Focus on the Family to Air Exclusive President Bush Interview
Former president discusses faith, family Dec. 14-15
December 6, 2010
Colorado Springs, Colo. - President George W. Bush sat down today with Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family and host of the ministry's daily radio broadcast for an in-depth discussion of his faith and family life scheduled to air Dec. 14 and 15.
It is Mr. Bush's first Christian radio interview in support of his recently released memoir, "Decision Points."
In most of his media appearances to date, Mr. Bush has been asked primarily about his reflections of his political decisions and his experiences during crises like 9/11, the Iraq War and Hurricane Katrina. The Focus interview offers a far more intimate look at the president, covering such subjects as his Christian faith, his views on the separation of church and state and his relationships with his parents and daughters.
"My advice to parents," Mr. Bush said during the taping, "is to love your child, no matter how difficult it may be. I know my parents did that for me."
The interview is only the third in Focus on the Family's 34-year history with a former president.
"Listeners will learn some things that they didn't hear when the president appeared on 'Oprah' or with Matt Lauer," Daly said. "He was extremely forthcoming in talking about his faith."
