Colorado Springs, Colo. – Focus on the Family is hosting a "Meet the Duggars" family event on Saturday, March 19, during which people from the community can meet the stars of the TLC reality show, 19 Kids and Counting. The event will feature musical performances by the Duggar children and a presentation, Q&A and book signing with Jim Bob Duggar and his wife, Michelle.
The program will be held at the Focus on the Family Main Building at 1 p.m., followed by a book signing in the Welcome Center from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are free, available on a first-come first-served basis, and can be picked up at the Focus Bookstore and Welcome Center beginning March 7.
"The Duggars are such a great example of how intentional parenting and lots of love result in a strong, thriving family," said Gary Schneeberger, Focus' vice president of communications. "We're eager to welcome the local community to Focus so they can engage with the Duggars and find a little encouragement as they raise their own families."
Unabashed Christians, the Duggars have used their fame to share the message that children are a blessing from the Lord and to promote debt-free living. In addition to their own show, which is currently in its fifth season, the Duggars have appeared on numerous national television shows and been featured in several media outlets, including The View, The Today Show, People Magazine and The New York Times.
The idea to film a segment of their TV show at Focus came from the Duggars themselves, Schneeberger said, since they are big fans of the ministry and have benefited from the resources it provides.
"I've spoken with Jim Bob several times, and each time he mentions what a blessing Focus has been to his family," Schneeberger said. "They are particularly big fans of our Adventures in Odyssey radio series for kids and the work we do advocating for families in the public-policy arena."
Jim Bob and Michelle live in Tontitown, Arkansas, with their 19 children – nine girls and ten boys: Joshua James, Jana Marie, John-David, Jill Michelle, Jessa Lauren, Jinger Nicole, Joseph Garrett, Josiah Matthew, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah Robert, Jeremiah Robert, Jason Michael, James Andrew, Justin Samuel, Jackson Levi, Johannah Faith, Jennifer Danielle, Jordyn-Grace Makiya and Josie Brooklyn.
