Healthy Family Trivia contest promotes healthy lifestyles, good nutrition and the importance of family mealtimes

Colorado Springs, Colo. – In celebration of National Nutrition Month, Focus on the Family and Dole Nutrition Institute are co-sponsoring the "Healthy Family Trivia" contest to highlight the importance of good nutrition and healthy families.
Focus on the Family and Dole Nutrition Institute will post nutrition-based trivia questions on their respective Facebook pages every Monday, Wednesday and Friday by 10:30 a.m. MST during the month of March. Five winners from each question will receive two Focus on the Family books, Mealtime Moments and Family Health, Nutrition & Fitness.
"We’re excited about this contest, because it goes beyond promoting healthy lifestyles and good nutrition to highlighting the importance of family mealtimes," said Roy Baldwin, director of Parenting and Youth Family Ministries at Focus on the Family. "We know from research and experience that family mealtimes help protect children from various dangerous behaviors, while helping create thriving families."
Studies show that teens who regularly eat dinner with their parents are half as likely to engage in activities such as drug and alcohol abuse. Also, children who have more regular dinners with their families have more healthful dietary patterns.
