Wait No More Adoption Conference Heads to Michigan

More than 4,600 legal orphans in the Michigan foster care system are waiting for adoptive families

May 3, 2011

Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Focus on the Family will join the Michigan Department of Human Services, as well as church and adoption leaders from around Michigan, to raise awareness of and recruit permanent families for those precious waiting children and youth.

The Wait No More adoption conference, which will be held on Saturday, May 21, at Ressurection Life Church in Grandville, will highlight the fact that more than 4,600 churches children and youth are awaiting adoption in Michigan's foster care system - a state with more than 11,000 churches.

"Our message is simple," said Kelly Rosati, adoptive mother of four and vice president of Community Outreach at Focus on the Family. "Michigan's waiting kids in foster care deserve forever adoptive families. No matter their age or special circumstance, they are precious to God, and we won't give up on them."

Conference participants will have the opportunity to hear more about the kids who are waiting, the process of adoption from foster care and ways to support adoptive families. In addition, agency and county representatives will be on site to answer questions and help families begin the adoption process.

Since November 2008, more than 1,440 families have stepped forward to start the adoption process through nine Wait No More adoption events in seven states.

The Grandville event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and no admission costs are involved. However, because conference-related materials and lunch will be offered, pre-registration is strongly preferred. For more information or to register, visit iCareAboutOrphans.org or call 1-800-A-FAMILY.
