Focus' "Today, I Will" Campaign Exhorts Families Towards Small, Intentional Acts
Reseach shows daily commitments can significantly strengthen marriages and families

Colorado Springs, Colo. – As families face the back-to-school transition, it’s easy to let relationships get lost in busy schedules. Focus’ “Today, I Will” campaign seeks to counter this tendency by encouraging families to incorporate one small but intentional act into their daily routine.
Deliberate deeds that prioritize and strengthen family relationships greatly contribute to building strong marriages and raising healthy, resilient children. For example, friendship within marriage accounts for about 70 percent of marital satisfaction. Also, teens rely most heavily on their parents for advice on coping with challenging experiences.
“More than half of a million households with kids who have come in contact with Focus feel we helped them raise healthy, resilient children,” said Leon Wirth, executive director of parenting and youth at Focus on the Family. “We hope the ‘Today, I Will’ campaign will continue to support families by offering them resources that show how doable it is to carry out beneficial every-day choices.”
The campaign highlights a different area for families to commit to every day of the week: Marriage Monday, Back to School Tuesday, Media Safety Wednesday, Parenting Thursday and Finances Friday.
Daily commitment ideas will be introduced through radio, print and social media. Ministry resources like Thriving Family, Clubhouse and Clubhouse, Jr. magazines; Plugged In; marriage and parenting books; financial resources and the daily broadcast will also provide practical tools for carrying out each commitment.
“Today, I Will” complements Focus’ “Make Every Day Count” campaign, which highlights five simple things families can do to strengthen their relationships (dinner, laughter, conversation, prayer and time).
