Focus Launches Digital Engagement Center to Reach Families Through Social Media Engagement
State-of-the-art digital command center is the first of its type in the Rocky Mountain region
October 24, 2013
Colorado Springs, Colo. – With its new Digital Engagement Center, Focus on the Family is expanding its ability to provide practical help to families by going directly to those searching online for advice to life’s challenges.
The newly constructed command center uses cutting-edge social media “listening” software to comb through blogs and other public forums. Fully paid for by designated donations, the Digital Engagement Center represents an investment of about $143,000. It will bring together family-help specialists to identify people who are asking for advice, join online conversations where appropriate and proactively engage with individuals to meet their needs.
The Digital Engagement Center is part of Focus’ broader efforts to offer hope, advice and resources to families. Over the past year, the ministry has contributed to more than 130,000 marriages saved and has helped 560,000 parents manage a significant family crisis.
“Continuing our digital outreach with technology that has been used almost exclusively by Fortune 500 companies is a huge milestone for Focus on the Family,” said Focus President Jim Daly. “Throughout our 35-year history, we’ve used whatever tools are available to reach families with trusted, proven family help and advice. The Digital Engagement Center represents the next phase in living out our commitment to them.”
Providing help locally and worldwide
Specialists use advanced tools such as Radian 6, Sprout Social and Google Analytics to have immediate, worldwide connection with those struggling with painful circumstances and looking for guidance.
Focus also plans to make the command center available to local government and relief agencies in times of crisis. This will assist local organizations in determining what areas of the region need immediate assistance and allow them to communicate critical information to the community.
The Digital Engagement Center is centrally located at Focus, enclosed with glass walls to allow visitors and staff to observe specialists interacting with families and monitoring topical trends in marriage, parenting and faith. Having it viewable to the public “will serve as a constant reminder that Focus exists to help families,” said Daly.
