Jesus had told His disciples He would be crucified but rise again on the third day. Still, Jesus' resurrection surprised everyone. Sometimes we have difficulty believing God's promises.

As a couple, discuss Luke 24. Read the chapter together or individually, and then focus your conversation on the following discussion questions.

Believing God’s Promises

“He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” — Luke 24:6-7

  • What is your favorite detail from the Easter story?
  • Why do you think everyone was slow to believe that Jesus had risen?
  • Which of God’s miracles or promises do you struggle to believe?

Jesus told His disciples He would be crucified but rise again on the third day. Still, Jesus’ resurrection surprised everyone. Sometimes we have difficulty believing God’s promises. He says that He will give us wisdom (James 1:5) and that He will supply our needs (Philippians 4:19), but we may not clearly see Him providing. That’s why it’s important for believers to encourage one another. As you and your spouse honestly share your struggles with each other, you can help each other hold on to what is true.
