Florida to Host Next "Wait No More" Adoption Conference

Colorado Springs, Colo – Florida's waiting legal orphans in foster care will be the focus of the Wait No More event being held at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, January 30. Sponsored by Focus on the Family, government officials, child placement agencies, churches and ministries, the event will educate people about today's orphan crisis, and potentially inspire many families to begin the adoption process for a waiting child in foster care.

One thousand children are waiting in the Florida foster care system for their forever home. Some of these children have been waiting for a permanent, loving home for many years and are now on the verge of "aging out" or exiting the system, making it very likely that they will have no one to turn to once they reach the age of 18. Wait No More will serve as an opportunity for families to hear from various speakers and receive helpful answers to their questions about adoption. If families are ready to adopt, agencies represented will help them start the process at the event.

Since November 2008, over 600 families have stepped forward to start the adoption process through fourWait No More adoption events in three states.

"Our message is simple," said Kelly Rosati, adoptive mother of four and senior director of the Sanctity of Human Life department at Focus on the Family. "Florida's waiting kids in foster care deserve forever adoptive families. No matter their age or special circumstance, they are precious to God and we won’t give up on them."

The Wait No More conference is scheduled from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and no admission costs are involved. However, because free lunch and conference-related materials will be offered, pre-registration is strongly preferred.
