Colorado Springs, Colo. - Focus on the Family will join the Pennsylvania Department of Social and Health Services, as well as church and adoption leaders from around the state, to raise awareness of and recruit permanent families for waiting children and youth in foster care.
The Wait No More adoption conference, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Calvary Baptist Church in Landsdale, will highlight the fact that more than 1,000 children and youth are awaiting adoption in Pennsylvania’s foster care system – a state with more than 15,000 churches.
"Our message is simple," said Kelly Rosati, who adopted her four children from foster care and serves as vice president of Community Outreach at Focus on the Family. "Pennsylvania’s waiting kids in foster care deserve forever adoptive families. No matter their age or special circumstance, they are precious to God, and we won’t give up on them."
Conference participants will have the opportunity to hear more about the kids who are waiting, the process of adoption from foster care and ways to support adoptive families. In addition, agency representatives will be on site to answer questions and help families begin the adoption process.
Since November 2008, more than 1,700 families have stepped forward to start the adoption process through ten Wait No More adoption events in nine states.
The event is scheduled from 1 – 5 p.m. and no admission costs are involved. However, because conference-related materials will be offered, pre-registration is strongly preferred. For more information or to register, visitiCareAboutOrphans.org or call 1-800-A-FAMILY.
