Colorado Springs, Colo. – Adventures in Odyssey turns 25 this year and Focus on the Family is helping fans celebrate with fun festivities, including a contest that gives fans a chance to become an AIO character; an anniversary party at the AIO headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a live birthday bash show in Dallas, Texas, for families to enjoy together.
The Get in the Show contest gives fans the opportunity to audition for a part in AIO Volume #58. The AIO team will announce the top 12 auditions on Oct. 1 and ask fans worldwide to pick the three finalists through online votes. Those finalists will be flown to Colorado Springs to audition live in front of a global web audience on Nov. 3. Viewers will vote for the winner, who will be featured on the cover of Focus’ Clubhouse Magazine and enjoy other fun experiences.
Fans who want to meet the actors behind their favorite AIO characters will get a chance to do just that at the AIO Live Birthday Bash, to be held on June 16 in Dallas. The AIO actors will perform a live show on stage, along with live sound effects and foley, and even some audience participation. After the show, the actors will answer questions from the audience and sign autographs for fans. Tickets are on sale online and cost $8 each.
The AIO headquarters in Colorado Springs is inviting fans to attend the Kids Super Saturday on May 19. The free anniversary party will include face painting, a magic show, bookstore discounts and hourly prize drawings. There will also be a chance to audition for a part in an Adventures in Odyssey episode.
"I'm excited about this contest and birthday bash because it allows us a chance to give back to the many fans who've welcomed us into their hearts and homes over the years,” said Paul McCusker, director of creative content at Focus. “I'm always happy when we can create opportunities to bring our fans even closer to Adventures in Odyssey."
Adventures in Odyssey has come a long way from its humble roots, when many were skeptical the show would be successful in the age of television, movies and other visual entertainment. But AIO proved the critics wrong and has become a staple for millions of families the world over, reaching more than 2 million households each week and airing in 45 countries and three languages: English, Spanish, and a live action television series in Hindi.
