Couple Seeking Information on Adoption

Can you provide my spouse and me with any guidance or suggest any resources as we begin the adoption process?

You’re to be commended on your willingness to open up your hearts and home to a child who desperately needs caring parents. Your desire to look into this option reflects the love that Christ has for all children.

Children in foster care are top of mind for us here at Focus on the Family. Psalm 68:5 affirms that “God in His holy dwelling is a father to the fatherless …” Through our Wait No More® Foster Care and Adoption Program, we’re committed to raising awareness about this subject and to urging more Christians to become involved. With more than 100,000 children currently waiting to be adopted here in the United States and over 150 million orphans worldwide, it’s clear that God’s people have an opportunity to take a more active role in making a difference in these precious lives.

Our Wait No More® site offers advice specifically for those families who are considering adoption. You can also take a look at our Adoption & Foster Care resource list.

And you can visit the
Loving Shepherd Ministries website and complete the family profile under the “Adoption Services” tab. After doing so, you’ll be sent a packet of information on adoption opportunities your family might wish to pursue (some countries have limits based on family size, age of parents, income, etc.). This organization has also compiled research on agencies throughout the U.S. and can help you connect with one in your area.

If you’d like to discuss your plans with a member of our staff, feel free to call Focus on the Family’s Counseling department.
