“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24
- Which aspects of our relationship make you feel that we’re united?
- What does it mean for two people to be “one flesh”?
- How can we use our love and unity to point people to Christ?
God created man and woman to be together. But even more than that, He created husband and wife to “become one flesh.” God calls us to leave the things of our past and cling to our spouse, which is not always easy. On the day we entered into our marriage covenant, we chose something greater than ourselves — we chose selfless, sacrificial love. In Ephesians 5:31-32, the apostle Paul uses the analogy of marriage to describe the relationship of Christ and the church. Our marriage can be used as a picture to show others the love of Christ.
