About Ray Vander Laan

Since receiving his Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1976, Ray Vander Laan has been actively involved in studying and teaching Jewish culture using the methods of Jewish education. After completing his Master’s, he continued graduate work in Jewish Studies throughout the United States, Israel, Turkey and Egypt. An author and ordained minister with the Christian Reformed Church, his ministry focuses on understanding the Bible within its historical and cultural context, emphasizing God’s call for his people to be a transforming influence on their own cultures. In 1998, he founded That The World May Know Ministries, a location- based teaching series that immerses viewers in the lands of the Bible. This vast experience into the world of the Bible has fueled his passion as a schoolteacher for 46 years. Outside of the classroom, he has guided over 10,000 people on study tours throughout Israel, Turkey, and Egypt. He is also the creator and host of Focus on the Family’s popular That The World May Know® video series.
