Homosexuality, Theology and the Church

The Bible teaches God’s plan for marriage and sexuality, prohibiting homosexuality. We stand for truth and reach out in love to LGBT-identified people.

We affirm God’s design for the two sexes – male and female – and believe that each is a glorious gift from God. Our sexuality is meant to be offered back to Him. For some, this means joining in a one-man, one-woman marriage – for procreation, union and mutual delight. For others, this means celibacy which allows for undivided devotion to Christ. Sexual expression is designed for the marital relationship, and homosexual lust and behavior are among the sexual sins that are outside God’s created intent and desire for us.

Because we are deeply concerned about the hearts and souls of those who identify themselves as “gay, lesbian or bisexual,” we want those men and women to know that God loves them with an everlasting love. Through salvation and the work of the Holy Spirit, God can empower them to live according to His design and standards for sexuality. He offers the grace to accept their true identity – not as gay, lesbian or bi-sexual – but as His sons and daughters, embracing their biological reality as male or female.

We are also concerned about homosexuality’s impact on families, the church and our culture. There has been a growing and very successful effort to gain not just acceptance but approval for homosexuality in many areas, including the church, the media, business and education. Society and families always do best when individuals follow God’s created intent for humanity.

The resources in this section will help you understand and articulate God’s design for human sexuality and respond to revisionist theological arguments that have been created to justify homosexual behavior. They will also inspire you to reach out with love, grace, truth and courage to men and women struggling with homosexuality or who have embraced it as an identity.
