Giving Thanks in All Circumstances

Discuss the following verse as a couple. Focus your conversation on the following questions.

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." — 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

  • What is something that you've felt grateful for in the past week?
  • During what circumstances in your life have you had a hard time giving thanks?
  • How can I be an encouragement to you as you endeavor to give thanks, even in the tough times?

It's easy to think that feeling thankful is dependent upon our circumstances. However, Scripture tells us to give thanks in all circumstances, to rejoice always, regardless of what is going on around us. That can be difficult, especially in the midst of the busyness and stress of life. But by His grace, God has given us a helper. Our spouse can pray with us, pray for us and encourage us to give thanks to the Lord no matter our circumstances.
