3 Ways to Inspire Others: Encouraging Bible Verses, Quotes, and Notes

We all need encouragement. With that in mind, here are some encouraging Bible verses, quotes, and notes to uplift you and for you to use to inspire others.

We all can become discouraged from time to time. It’s easy to get caught up in the challenges of life, lose sight of how God sees us, and start looking down on ourselves. Those around us deal with the same struggles, even within our family or friend group. We all need to be inspired, encouraged, and uplifted. Most important of all, we need to be reminded of the truth.

With that in mind, here are some encouraging Bible verses, quotes, and notes to uplift you and, just as importantly, for you to use to inspire others.

Encouraging Bible verses

When we need encouragement, the first place we should turn to is the Bible. Why? Because it is God’s message to his people. It is the truth, and when we know the truth, we can better spot the lies that the devil wants us to believe. The Bible is packed with verses that communicate that God loves us and has a plan for our lives. Here are just a few…

God shows his love for us

“For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

He cares for you

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

Nothing can separate us from him

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

He gives you a future and a hope

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

We are his workmanship…

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

…And a people for his own possession

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

There are many more encouraging examples found in God’s Word. Make time to consistently read the Bible and learn more about God’s character. It will encourage you, give you hope, and equip you to inspire others around you.

Inspiring quotes

A good quote can also be incredibly encouraging and grant us a different perspective on our circumstances. Sometimes it’s helpful to hear the truth framed in a unique way from a fellow follower of Christ. Here are some uplifting quotes about God and faith…

God made us for another (heavenly) world

“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”

We can trust in him…

“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”

…Because we know he will do what is right

“Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right.”

We may still have questions…

"Faith does not eliminate questions. But faith knows where to take them."

…But God will not abandon us

“We need never shout across the spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts”

And, by God’s grace, we know our final destination

“My home is in Heaven. I'm just traveling through this world.”

All the people these quotes are from lived real, human lives and had their fair share of struggles. They dealt with pain, regret, and discouragement just like we do. And yet they still could share these words because of the experience seeing God work in both their successes and failures, their triumphs and defeats.

Uplifting notes

Quick, think of a time when you received an encouraging note from someone. How did you feel? If you haven’t received an uplifting note or you can’t think of one, imagine what you would like to receive. What would it say? How would you want to be encouraged? Finally, how can you provide that encouragement to those close to you, whether they are family, friends, or both?

Notes of encouragement mean a lot because they are very personal and often come from (or are given to) someone close to our hearts. And here’s the cool thing – there is no limit to the number of uplifting notes that you can give and receive – they simply must be written!

These things are made to be shared

This month, start by encouraging, inspiring, and uplifting others! Share Bible verse, quotes, and notes with your friends and family members. To help you stay consistent with it, start a Contributor Journal!

What is a Contributor Journal? It’s a journal where you share encouragement with someone else. And it’s super easy to make! Here’s how it works:

First, get a group of people together who want to encourage each other. Get blank journals for each person in the group and have them write their name on it. It doesn’t have to be a journal – it could be letters or sticky notes if you’d like! But a journal is nice so there is a collection of encouragement built up over time that a person can return to whenever needed.

Second, place the journals somewhere where they are easily accessible. If you live in the same house as the other members of your group, you could put the journals in the kitchen or living room. The idea is to have them around so people will think about them and write in them often.

Third, write in each other’s journals as much as you can! Encouraging Bible verses, quotes, and notes like we discussed above are great – even jokes if you’d like! Whatever would uplift the person you are writing to and bring a smile to their face.

Finally, take the time to read through your journal and see all the things your group has shared with you! Return to it often and whenever you need to be encouraged.
