In 1988, Focus on the Family launched Enfoque a la Familia as a special Hispanic-led ministry to reach the 450 million native Spanish speakers of the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the U.S. alone, 43 million people speak Spanish as their first language and make up the largest ethnic minority group in the United States. Lifeway Research found that most U.S. Christian Hispanic congregations are made up of first- and second-generation Americans, and a majority (69%) conduct their services exclusively in Spanish. Despite this large number, there seems to be a lack of Christian ministries dedicated to evangelizing in Spanish.
Many Christians, including Hispanics, struggle against the social currents of our time. Families attempting to live out biblical values are often unequipped to counter secular cultural trends, especially in communities where access to biblical content can be impeded by language barriers. Seventy percent of Hispanic pastors said they could do more to serve their congregations if they had more resources.
This is where Enfoque a la Familia comes in. The ministry is led by Sixto Porras, world-renowned author and speaker from Costa Rica, who has a reputation for excellence in pastoring and ministry. Designed to serve Hispanic families and equip pastors across the U.
