The Fabulous Fruit of the Spirit

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)

The Bible tells of several things
That everyone should do.
So hold the page and read along
And stick to these like glue!

Love
The way you treat your mom and dad,
The way you treat your friends
These are ways to show you care
For all the love they give!

Joy
Joy comes out in different ways,
From smiles to laughs and giggles;
Or when you want to sing and dance
And let out all your wiggles!

Peace
Blessed are those who keep the peace,
Don’t fight or cause much trouble.
God’s kingdom will be theirs one day,
With treasure heaped on double.

Patience
Don’t get angry or upset
When things don’t go your way.
You can always try again
Some other time or day.

Kindness
If you’re nice to all you see,
Show kindness through and through,
You’ll surely see that all you give
Will come right back to you!

Goodness
Are you good when by yourself,
When Mom won’t hear a sound?
Blessed is he who does what’s right
When no one is around.

Faithfulness
Learn God’s Word to figure out
What you should do and say.
And then you’ll know without a doubt
He’ll help you on your way.

Gentleness
Be careful with the words you choose
And how you treat your friends.
Of their feelings, take good care
They’ll love you till the end!

Self-Control
When things you want to do for fun
Are things you know are wrong,
Turn away and don’t look back!
They sure aren’t fun for long.

So do your best to make God proud
And take these words to heart.
By following God’s Word so young,
You’ll have a great head start!

What does the Bible mean when it says followers of Jesus should “bear good fruit”? Does it mean you should have grapes or bananas growing out of your ears? No! That would look pretty silly.

The Bible means that when you really get to know God, you will want to be like Him! And with His help, you can grow to be healthy, strong and beautiful inside. Then you’ll be like a tree covered with bright, yummy fruit! And your fruit–the way you treat others–will make God smile.
