Matthew Parker’s Decoder #2013-9

Having trouble with the odd message from the September issue? Here it is again:

How It Works

This is another sequence code—you already have the letters, you just need to put them in the correct order.

Start with the middle letter, then move outward (left, right, left, right) until you reach the edges.

Now rearrange the letters in numerical order, lowest to highest, to reveal Matthew’s secret message.

When using this code, try to keep the messages short. (If you need to write a longer message, split it up across a few lines with each line scrambled separately.) Also, remember that you need an odd number of letters in each line so your code has a clear starting point. If your message has an even number of letters, add a punctuation mark at the end of the line.

Once you’ve mastered the inside-out code, crack this extra message:

CEEPHNEIRSITERSNE
NYRDEHFOTELELAD
LETOOHNRHOD
