Pastor Perks

October is Clergy Appreciation month. Try some of these ideas to show thanks to your pastor.

P—Pray
Pray for your pastor right before the sermon. You can also ask them for prayer requests. Pray each day for a week that God would keep your pastor healthy and focused on God’s Word.

AAffirm
Give your pastor a handshake, high-five or hug after the service. Share one thing you learned from the sermon that day. Your pastor will love to hear that you’re listening closely.

SServe
Help around the church. Maybe you can hand out bulletins, sweep the sidewalk or volunteer in the nursery. A clean, smooth-running church makes a pastor’s job much easier.

TTreat
Bake a batch of your pastor’s favorite cookies, then attach a short note that says, “Thanks for all you do.” Your family could also invite the pastor’s family to lunch so you can get to know them better.

O—Organize
Organize a pep rally in your pastor’s honor. Get other kids at church involved too. Make up cheers, do the wave or give a speech.

RRead
Share Bible verses with your pastor. Start with Jeremiah 3:15, 1 Corinthians 15:58, Romans 10:14 or your favorite verse. Nothing warms a pastor’s heart like knowing you’re in God’s Word.

Pastors have tough jobs. A little encouragement goes a long way, so plan something special today!
