Draw a Dog

Want to draw like a Clubhouse artist? Just follow these steps!

1. Lightly sketch basic body shapes for guidelines. Pay special attention to the size and placement of each shape.

2. Draw contour lines on the face. Then add shapes for ears, muzzle and tail. Refine leg shapes and add paws. Draw lines to connect head, shoulders and hindquarters.

3. Add basic shapes for eyes, nose, mouth, fur and toes. Refine shapes to look like real body parts, erasing guidelines as you go.

4. Refine eyes and nose shapes. Add tongue and details to mouth.

5. Add nostrils, pupils and toe nails. Draw additional contour lines for fur coat.

6. Add shading and highlights to your artwork. Use a blending stump to soften pencil lines and shading.

“Drawing well takes patience, practice and perseverance. It starts by keenly observing your subject and getting its basic shapes right.” –Jenny Dillon, Clubhouse Art Director
