Felt Ornaments

Gather

ornament patterns (click here to download)
felt
scissors
needle
embroidery floss
hot glue gun
cotton stuffing
small craft eyes
ribbon
pom-poms
paperclips
markers

Go

1. Download the ornament patterns, print and cut out stencils.

Turtle Dove
2. Layer two pieces of felt. Trace the stencils on the felt and cut out shapes.
3. Sew wing to front of bird.
4. Cut out feet and beak from felt. Glue in place.
5. Sew body pieces together. Add stuffing before sewing shut.
6. Glue on eyes.
7. Glue a loop of ribbon to the inside of the hat band as a hanger.
8. Sew hat pieces together, leaving the bottom open.
9. Glue hat onto bird body and a white pom-pom on end of hat.

Ice Skate
2. Fold felt in half. Trace skate stencil, with bottom on the felt’s fold crease.
3. Cut out skate, leaving the fold on bottom.
4. Starting at the toe, sew the skate together by pushing the needle down through both pieces of felt and coming back up next to the same spot.
5. Put small amount of stuffing into skate before sewing up the top.
6. For laces, use three large stitches going diagonally up and back down on the side of the skate to form an X.
7. Insert paperclips into the bottom of each skate by pushing it through the front corner.
8. Hot-glue pompoms along top of skate.
9. Glue a loop of ribbon to back of skate as a hanger.

Snowman
2. Layer two pieces of felt. Trace the stencils on the felt and cut out shapes.
3. Sew snowman pieces together. Add stuffing before sewing shut.
4. Cut a nose of felt and glue in place.
5. Glue on eyes. Draw a mouth and buttons of “coal.”
6. Sew hat pieces together, leaving the bottom open.
7. Glue hat onto snowman.
8. Glue scarf onto snowman. Add pompom and ribbon to hat.
9. Glue a loop of ribbon to back of hat as a hanger.
