Elisabeth Elliot

Elisabeth Elliot (deceased) was a popular public speaker and an author of more than 20 books including the modern Christian classics Passion and PurityThrough Gates of Splendor and Shadow of the Almighty. She has influenced countless Christians around the world with her timeless teachings, inspiring words and the incredible grace and courage she displayed in serving as a missionary to the Ecuadorian Indian tribe who, in 1956, murdered her first husband, Jim Elliot, and four fellow missionaries. Elisabeth also endured the loss of her second husband, Addison Leitch, in 1973. Elisabeth passed away in 2015 at age 88. She is survived by her third husband, Lars Gren, and her daughter, Valerie, who was 10 months old when her father was martyred in Ecuador.
