Jsy Jonas

Jay Jonas is a Deputy Chief in the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). He was one of only 20 survivors who were inside the Twin Towers when they collapsed on September 11, 2001. At the time, Jonas was the Captain of Ladder Co. 6 which was one of the first responding units to the World Trade Center. The unit was rescuing a woman from the north tower when it fell. Chief Jonas was the FDNY’s chief representative at President Bush’s address to the nation at the U.S. Capitol Building following the terrorist attacks.
