Speaker Mike Johnson

Mike Johnson became the 56th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in October 2023. Johnson has served as the U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District since 2016. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was elected to the Louisiana State House in 2015. Johnson’s legal career spans two decades, during which he worked as a constitutional lawyer and an attorney for Alliance Defending Freedom, where he served as a litigator and spokesperson. Johnson earned his law degree from Louisiana State University in 1998. Over the course of his 20-year legal career, he focused on constitutional law, primarily advocating for religious freedom and other conservative causes through his work with Alliance Defending Freedom.
