Chris is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Project Belong VA, where she leads efforts to inspire, recruit, and equip churches and families to respond to the needs of the 5,700+ children in Virginia’s foster care system. With a deep passion for mobilizing the local church, Chris believes that true transformation comes when the Church steps into the sanctifying work of loving and serving vulnerable children.
Before launching Project Belong, Chris served as a Missions Director at McLean Presbyterian Church. She and her husband, Scott, are former foster parents in Arlington County and have long been committed to community and church-based outreach. In 2007, they moved from Atlanta to Arlington to start Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.
Chris and Scott are parents to three adult children and Knox, their trusty golden retriever. Chris loves all things people and hospitality. For fun, she enjoys being outside and trying her hand at gardening. On her perfect day, you’d find Chris taking a glorious city walk (or hike) with a gaggle of friends, wandering through an art museum, piddling in the garden, and ending with a glorious meal created by her son-in-law, who’s a chef.
