Expecting a baby can be one of the happiest times in life.  And with modern medical technology, it is also relatively safe even if there are complications during pregnancy.  But “South Sudan has the highest maternal mortality rate in the world… each mother has a one in seven chance of dying in childbirth during her lifetime.”  Can you imagine?  Because of a lack of basic medical care, what should be a happy time can become a time of great fear for expectant mothers.
