Colorado Springs, Colo. – Focus on the Family’s Option Ultrasound Program (OUP) is well on its way to having helped saved 400,000 babies through grants for counseling and ultrasound services since the initiative began in 2004.
“Four hundred thousand is so much more than a number – it represents babies alive today and women empowered to make a courageous choice,” said Kelly Rosati, vice president of community outreach. “In 2017, we’ll equip even more pregnancy medical clinics to serve their communities. They’ll share the hopeful message that a woman facing an unexpected pregnancy doesn’t have to face her situation alone. There are caring, compassionate people in her city, ready to walk with her every step of the way.”
Currently, the ministry estimates more than 382,000 babies have been saved through OUP. “We are thankful to celebrate such an incredible gift of life on Sanctity of Human Life Day this Jan. 22,” said Rosati.
Option Ultrasound helps abortion-minded women choose life
Fifty-four percent of abortion-minded women choose life after seeing an ultrasound image, hearing their baby’s heartbeat and talking with a counselor who helps them consider the support and alternatives available to them.
To reach these women, Focus has given more than 720 grants to qualified pregnancy medical clinics for ultrasound machines and sonography training since 2004 with high standards that focus on communities with high abortion rates, ensuring that pregnancy medical clinics have the resources necessary to save babies where the need is greatest.
Evangelicals to again take part in America’s largest annual pro-life gathering
Following the conference’s successful launch in 2016, Focus on the Family and the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission are once again inviting Christians to take part in Evangelicals for Life, which is happening alongside the largest pro-life gathering in the nation, the March for Life.
Evangelicals for Life will feature a long list of well-known speakers including Focus on the Family President Jim Daly, Kelly Rosati and Russell Moore, president of the ERLC. The goal of the conference is to equip attendees to be compassionate and compelling voices for life and justice in their communities, carrying out the March for Life’s 2017 theme: “The Power of One.”
