Prayer has power when you unite with your husband or wife to ask God for help. God asks you to seek His counsel daily, so pray boldly for your spouse and for unified prayers for your families.

As a couple, discuss chapters 2 and 27 in the book of Proverbs. Read each chapter together or individually, then focus your conversation on the following passages and discussion questions.

“If you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” —Proverbs 2:3-5

  • Do you have any concerns or struggles that you need insight or wisdom about?
  • How can I pray for you during my personal quiet time?
  • What are some decisions or difficult situations that we can pray about together?

The hurry of life can sometimes derail dedicated prayer in marriage. We often forget the power that prayer can have when we unite with our husband or wife to ask God for help. God asks us to seek His counsel daily, so marriage should be filled with bold prayers for our spouse and unified prayers for our families. When we humbly come to God and acknowledge our total dependence on Him, we can find direction for our households and peace in our lives.
