The world is constantly throwing mixed messages about beauty and appearance at our daughters. With that constant bombardment, it can become difficult for girls to have a healthy perspective of what beauty really is. That’s why it’s so important to teach them God’s perspective by reading and talking about key Bible verses about beauty together.
Invite your daughter to read these verses with you, reflect on what they mean, and discover how God defines beauty that never fades.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
What it means: You are created in the image of God, and God doesn’t make junk! Like a snowflake, every person is unique. No two are the same. God sees you as His masterpiece, and when you look in the mirror, He wants you to “know that full well.”
Try this beauty tip: Every morning when you look in the mirror, say Psalm 139:14 and smile. You might even tape the verse on your mirror as a reminder! Encourage your daughter to do the same and start her day with gratitude instead of comparison.
“But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.’”
What it means: This verse shows that the world focuses on what people look like on the outside, but God focuses on what people look like on the inside.
Ask yourself: Do I spend more time trying to be pretty on the outside or the inside?
As girls grow older, they may meet others who spend hours trying to find the perfect outfit, tan, or lip gloss. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look nice — but it needs to stay in balance. God wants us to focus on becoming drop-dead gorgeous on the inside — the kind of beauty that comes from prayer, kindness, and a heart that seeks Him.

What it means: Physical beauty fades with time, so if our happiness depends on outward appearance, we’ll struggle when wrinkles appear and the scale changes. That’s why God calls us to “fear” Him — not to be afraid, but to stand in awe of His greatness and love.
If you were to stand two girls side by side — one known for outward beauty and another known for her deep love for God — the second would be the more beautiful in God’s eyes. That kind of beauty never fades.
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
What it means: This verse doesn’t say it’s wrong to braid your hair or wear nice clothes. It’s reminding us not to let our appearance define who we are. The women of that time spent hours perfecting their looks — but God values a gentle, humble spirit that reflects His love.
Try this: Each time you get ready, take a moment to pray, “Lord, help me to be beautiful on the inside today.”
“Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important. It promises a reward in both this life and the next.”
What it means: Staying fit and healthy is good — but staying spiritually strong matters even more. We can strengthen our faith by reading Scripture, praying, worshiping, and spending time with other believers.
Many people focus on outward health but neglect spiritual growth. When we care for our souls, we’re building a beauty that outlasts time itself.
